Prevent dementia
If you have been diagnosed with dementia, know that the diagnosis does not automatically lead to a loss of fitness. Even after the diagnosis, you will be able to make decisions about your medical condition or other issues, manage your financial affairs and continue with normal day-to-day activities (even continuing to drive). However, it is advisable to prepare in advance for a decline in future functioning, for example by appointing a power of attorney for medical care and managing financial matters.

Decreased function and loss of ability depend on the stages of disease development. Most often the decline in function will be gradual, and there may also be fluctuations (improvement and regression) in the level of ability to function.
